Description: The Bylaws of each local union, with the Constitution,
set out the rules by which the local operates. In a new local, the work of
this committee sets the stage for how the local will function.
Nevertheless, even well established locals may need to modify or amend their
bylaws. Members of this committee are responsible for reviewing submitted
original and/or amended bylaws provisions to the local union membership for
discussion and approval. This committee monitors the required local union
bylaws amendment procedure to ensure compliance with the current bylaws and
constitutional provisions. Once the amended bylaws provision(s) has been
approved by the local union membership, this committee monitors the process to
ensure that the amendment is immediately submitted to the International
Executive Board pursuant to Article 37, Section 3 of the Constitution.
Join this committee to strengthen your local union’s bylaws and structure.

This is a specifically designed
committee, in our Bylaws, to represent the interests of the Skilled Trades
workers at MMNA. A Skilled Tradesman has specific training to maintain and
repair manufacturing equipment - robots, tooling, assembly lines and any other
technical maintenance needed in today’s hi-tech manufacturing environment. In
the UAW Local 2488 there are two Skilled Trades groups: General Maintenance and
Tool/Die Maintenance. A UAW Journeyman’s card is a highly sought after
certification and validation of many years of training in a particular field.
This committee assists in verifying Journeyman’s applications along with working
with apprentices to make sure they receive the proper training to receive their
Journeyman’s card.
